Welcome to Shrikshetra Shakatapuram, the seat of Shri Jagadguru Badari Shankaracharya Samsthaanam – Shrividya Peetam. The glory of Shrikshetram on the banks of river Tunga is enunciated in Mahabharata by Lord Krishna himself to Dharmaputra. Brahmandapurana pronounces, that any Yagna or Tapas or Dana performed in this sacred place will yield benefits multiple times. To participate in this yagna in the Shrikshetra where Shri Santanavenugopalakrishna is the presiding deity, and that too in the benign presence of Shri Jagadguru Shrividyaabhinava Shri Shri Krishnanandateertha Mahaswamigal a great Tapasvi of our times, is a life time opportunity. Needless to say, that the Srimad Bhagavata Saptaaha Yagna performed by none other than the great Aatma Vidya exponent of our times, Brahma Sri Nochur Venkataraman, will make those days meaningful in our life and elevate us.

For the benefit of devotees to plan their participation and stay, the following information is provided.

Note: Those planning to come by bus from Sringeri or Shimoga or Mangalore, or Koppa the alighting point is HARIHARAPURA, which is on the highway between Tirtahalli & Sringeri. From Hariharapura people should take autorikshaw to reach Shakatapuram.

  1. Devotees visiting & staying at Srikshetra Shakatapuram generally donate for the Annadanam and other dharmic activities of Shrimutt. A minimum of Rs 5000 (Rupees Five thousands) would entail benefits of deduction under 80 G of the Income Tax Act.
  2. Donations are accepted in cheque or electronic transfer mode. Details may be obtained from Shrimutt office or the Coordinators.
  3. During the stay devotees can participate in regular sevas like Bikshavandana, Pada pooja, Archana Seva, Rathotsava Seva etc. Details can be obtained from Shrimutt office.
  4. Shrimutt observes the Shastric traditions of our Dharma fairly strictly and hence the devotees are requested to follow the same wholeheartedly, without minding inconvenience if any. Shrimutt administration will be happy to assist you within their means and make your divine yatra a comfortable and soul fulfilling experience.
  1. Shakatapuram village is maintained green and hence please avoid plastics.
  2. There are no shops in the village. Nearest shopping point for petty purchases is 2 KMs and other bigger shopping point is 8 Kms. Hence devotees are requested to bring adequate toiletries, medicines, biscuits/snacks and other items they may feel necessary.
  3. Autorikshaws / cabs are available on call.
  4. Airtel & BSNL signals are good.
  5. Reasonable medical facilities are available in Koppa (17kms) and Sringeri (28 Kms)
  6. There could be monsoon showers during that period and devotees are requested to bring their umbrellas without fail.
  7. Please bring ‘Pancha Patra uddharini’, rope for drying clothes, candle and matchbox for your use.

ACCOMODATION

    1. 1. Shrimutt has good accommodation facilities in terms of spacious rooms with attached bath apart from 3 hall type accommodation. During festival times the accommodation is provided on a shared basis to augment more capacity.
    1. 2. All rooms are non – AC.
    1. 3. The building is G+3. No lift is available.
    1. 4. Each room can comfortably accommodate at least 6 persons. Adequate beddings will be arranged for all the people.
    1. 5. Shrimutt does not charge any per day rate for accommodation. However, devotees donate voluntarily for Annadanam & other dharmic activities of Shrimutt.
    1. 6. Decent lodging houses are available in nearby towns viz: Koppa (17 KMs) and Sringeri (28 KMs). Information on such accommodation is available with the Coordinators.
    1. 7. For people, desirous of staying in Koppa or Sringeri, we request them to contact the respective lodging house or hotel directly and book their accommodation. (Details provided in the annexure). For any further assistance please contact the coordinators.
    1. 8. Autorikshaws / cabs are available from these places to Shrikshetra Shakatapuram.
    9. Any cancellations after registering may be intimated well in advance so that the accommodation may be allotted to other devotees.

FOOD

    1. 1. Shrimutt provides food (free- Annadaanam) to all devotees and visitors.
    1. 2. The food is traditional and served traditionally -seating on the floor. For old and sick people dining table can be arranged.
    1. 3. General timings. Morning coffee/ tea between 7 & 8 AM, breakfast between 7.30 and 9 AM, lunch between 1 & 2 PM, evening coffee /tea between 4 & 5 PM and dinner between 7.30 & 9 PM. During Upavasa days and for people observing Upavasam, tiffin (palahaaram) is provided for dinner instead of rice, for which prior requests may be made. Snacks are not provided in between.
    1. 4. Coffee / tea or food is not served or consumed in the rooms. Devotees go to the dining hall where the same is served.
    5. Local tap water (Tunga water) is potable and hence mineral water is not supplied.
    1. 1. In accordance with the tradition, gents & boys wear dhoti & angavastram. Shirts / Banians are not allowed inside the Shrimutt & Temple premises. Ladies & girls wear sarees or shalwars with Dupata. Traditional ‘Panchkacham’/ ‘Madisar saree’ is welcome.
    2. Shorts, bermudas and nighties may be restricted to within the room and not worn outside including when going to take bath in river Tunga.
