Pujyasri Ramanacharanatirtha Swami
Sri Ramanacharanatirtha Swami (formerly Sri Nochur Venkataraman) is a renowned Acharya of Advaita Vedanta, firmly rooted in a traditional Vedic background. Immersed in Vedic culture from a young age, he was irresistibly drawn to the spiritual life early on. At the age of fourteen, while meditating long before dawn in his native place of Nochur, Venkataraman had a profound experience of Peace that transcended all limitations of body and mind. Inspired by this inward plunge into the transcendental, he began a serious study and contemplation of the scriptures, including the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, and other Vedantic texts. During this period, he was closely associated with the Ramakrishna Mutt and had the good fortune of enriching interactions with many saints.
Soon thereafter, he arrived at Arunachala, where he found his deep spiritual anchorage in Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, whose teachings perfectly resonated with the glimpse of the Self he had already experienced. Coming to Arunachala was truly a homecoming for Venkataraman. Blessed with Bhagavan Ramana’s grace, whose teachings became the central axis of his inner and outer life, he also enjoyed close association with several of Bhagavan’s direct disciples, through whom the living spirit of Ramana’s path was transmitted.
Guided by the Inner Being, Acharya later stayed at Kalady, the birthplace of Adi Sankaracharya, for three years. There, by the banks of the river Purna, he pursued uninterrupted meditation and a deep study of the scriptures under traditional scholars. Through sustained contemplation and spiritual practice, this period matured into perfect inner fulfilment.
From around the age of eighteen, this sagely teacher has been expounding the age-old Vedic wisdom of the Upanishads, the Gita, the Bhagavata, and other foundational texts of Vedanta. Acharya’s talks and writings—especially those centred on the teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi—have served as a powerful guiding light for many seekers engaged in Self-enquiry.
His inimitable satsangs, delivered in Malayalam, Tamil, English, and occasionally Sanskrit, are marked by natural eloquence, clarity of insight, and scriptural depth. Aflame with the power of Ātmajñāna and suffused with the fragrance of bhakti, they offer a living glimpse into the Supreme Peace of the Self—for earnest seekers, renunciates, householders, and even children.
In keeping with tradition and guided by Bhagavan’s prompting, in 2023, Acharya formally received sannyāsa dīksha from Sri Advayanandendra Saraswati Swamiji, one of the authentic traditional teachers in the pure Advaita lineage of Sankaracharya.
Countless aspirants have found meaning and fulfilment through Swami’s gracious presence and guidance. Through his satsangs, books, and personal instruction, Sri Ramanacharanatirtha Swami continues to keep alive the timeless wisdom of the Vedic tradition in a manner that is both authentic and accessible.
